Dori Goebel

Dori GoebelAs a community advocate Dori has spent most of her years helping North Carolina be a better place.  She has participated in the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Other Voices program, the Greensboro Police Department (GPD) Citizen's Police Academy and is a member of the Community Connecters, through the GPD’s Office of Community Engagement.  Dori is also proud of being a kidney donor, where she was able to personally take part in saving another person’s life.

One of the things that drives Dori is meeting people and hearing their stories from across North Carolina.  She has spent time in many cities and with different diverse groups talking about different issues across the state.

After graduating from Appalachian State University Dori set roots in Greensboro to be close to family.  She has made this home for over 30 years, being married with 3 children, 2 dogs, and 3 grand-horses.

As the granddaughter to Judge William York; a North Carolina juvenile court judge, she has learned the importance of family and protecting our youth.

Being a member of Westover Church, has presented opportunities to Dori and her family.  She was recently able to experience other cultures through interfaith trips to Israel and the Civil Rights Journey with the Community Foundation and The Jewish Federation.

Dori makes a point to travel the state as much as she can, but truly cherishes her annual family beach trip to Duck.  The small community of Duck provides Dori and family the best solace to appreciate plan future endeavors.
